Built in the Art Deco
style that was so much in vogue during 1941, when it was manufactured for
the Southern Pacific Railroad, the old steamer passed by here July 7, 2009.
The train was headed for TrainFestival 2009 in Owosso, Michigan.

The train passed by here about 11:30 AM on July 7. That happens to be around the same time that the modern passenger train goes by also. The old steamer was sided at Macon, MT (about 2 miles west), to let the Amtrak pass.

The engine was pulling 11 passenger cars, including one built for Harold S. Vanderbilt. It also had in tow; the Olympian Hiawatha, California Zephyr, Broadway Limited, and a super dome that was pulled by the Great Northern Empire Builder that ran by here before Amtrak.
