The newly purchased light, awaiting modifications.

I left the light assembled, gingerly chucked it in the lathe, and cut a groove that allowed me to push out the center by hand. The light was then chucked with the LED side out and the center of that disk was cut out.

After the center was removed, I trimmed the edges with a de-burring tool. A small notch was cut in the side of the housing and the on/off switch was mounted to the circuit board with a drop of super-glue.

As supplied, the light wanted 3.5 Volts that was supplied by AA cells. I had a wall-wart transformer that was rated at 600 MA & 6 Volts. Rewiring the light made the transformer a perfect fit.

The inner and outer ring each consisted of 24 LEDs and the banks were connected in parallel. I snipped the wires as shown and by hooking the banks in series, they each saw 3.5 Volts from the 7 volts that the transformer supplied at the current drawn by the light. Perfect Match!!

Bottom view of the spindle light. This shot was lit with another tent light that I purchased to make a camera ring light. Here, I put batteries in it and laid it atop the vise to illuminate this shot
