The ruler laid across the width of the seed trench shows about a 7.5" wide ribbon. Openers are spaced 12" apart, which will leave about 5" of unseeded gap per row.
The object was to have nice fuzzy rows of emerged plants that will not compete with each other like they would need to if they were in a narrow band.
Application rate was 85 lbs. of seed per acre and 115 lbs. of 46-0-0 urea blown into the trench, along with the seed. Avoiding a sharp band of urea right next to the seed, keeps the germination from being affected.

CAT MT845 pulling the air seeder.
Looking out the back window. GPS unit is steering the tractor so I have time to take pictures.
Trimble EZ-500 lightbar provides signal to steer the tractor. The unit also provides a coverage map.
Functions of the tractor and air seeder are controlled and monitored by controls in the armrest of the seat.
The trailer is used to refill the air cart with seed and fertilizer. It is pulled by my older Challenger that provides hydraulic power to run the augers mounted in the trailer.
A case drain was also added and a small filter mounted to filter the oil.
Ready to refill
The auger in the fertilizer compartment of the tender trailer is running and providing product to the cart auger.
The seed auger is now transferring wheat from the back compartment of the trailer to the air cart auger.
