Camera & lens mounted on tripod. Very prone to shake.
These tools and a knee mill will be used for my solution to this problem
This die-cast aluminum piece was cut up, drilled and finished to make a support bracket for the long lens.
Pieces have been drilled, milled, and tapped.
Ready for assembly. The sequence of drilled and tapped holes are provided for mounting the tripod QA shoe in different places to balance different length & weight lenses.
Pieces assembled and ready to be mounted on tripod quick attach.
Top view of the support bracket.
The camera has been attached to the tripod quick attach shoe and mounted on the tripod. The balance point of the assembly with the lens fully extended is now exactly above the tripod's elevation pivot point.
